Inspired Locs is a website that focuses on healthy care and maintenance of Locs, Dreadlocks and Natural Hair in general. It's about natural, nappy, kinky, curly, hair. It is about natural beauty inside and out. And, it is dedicated to people who have been inspired to wear their hair in locs which I call Distinctively Adorned Hair! Whether you are just starting your locs, want to know how to maintain locs, or just want some information on dreads, Inspired Locs is for you.
How to navigate this Loc website: Aside from the Home Page, which also contains the subsections About and Contact, the new website is divided into 3 Main Sections: Salon, School, and Store. |
Explanation/Definition of the Inspired Locs "Salon, School, and Store":
SALON: Drawing room or reception room. An assembly of guests in a reception area. A place used for the exhibition of art. So, The Salon Section will be the place where we meet and gather. It is in the Salon where you will find Photos and Styling. You will also find my Blog which will not only contain my Thoughts, but will Answer questions that many of you ask me through the Contacts page, the Survey, and through Facebook. The Blog is also the place where you will find all sorts of Natural Hair and Beauty Encouragement and other Fun stuff. (For those from the original Inspired Locs Website back in 2003, remember the poetry?!?) The much needed Health Page will be located in the Salon Section, and there is a page dedicated to Zimbabwe, Africa. SCHOOL: Program of instruction. The School Section will be the place focused on instruction and education. In the School, you will find information on Hair Care, Techniques, etc. You will find Homemade, Natural Hair and Beauty Recipes. You will also find information and resources on various Hair Businesses (Salon, Beauty Supply, etc). STORE: Where merchandise is sold The Store Section, Product Marketplace, will provide resources to purchase products & services that are relevant to us. In the Store you will not only find Products and Raw Materials, but you will find Service Organizations that may be of help in this natural hair and beauty journey. This section is still new, and in the works, but the Product Marketplace does provide a link to the products that I use. THE SURVEY RESULTS ARE IN!!!First of all, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to take this survey. I'd like to make this site as informative and helpful as possible. You all are so wonderful! Your responses were heartfelt. Please make sure you sign up for the free Newsletter (quickly).
You'll find a summary of the survey results in this post, but I will continue to cover more survey information over time. Also, I'm going to redo this site a bit so that it focuses on your main concerns. And, I will be answering and addressing all of the questions and concerns that you shared in your survey results. So, here's what you said!: 73.5% of you want to know more about Care of your locs. 63.3% of you want some hair care recipes. Followed by 59.2% want to see photos and styles 55.1% want solutions to hair problems 33.8% want to know about starting your locs 24.5% wanted info on both natural hair business/salon & natural hair, not locs 22.4% want some nappy encouragement 16.3% want to know about transitioning 4.1% want to know about other things such as loc extensions and journeys. For the question "If you could have help in just one area.." You have many different answers that basically fall under hair care, and hair business. (Both of which are some of my favorite topics) Someone wanted to know how to start a salon on a budget and boy, do I have some information coming on that! Question 3 was "What do you love about natural hair?" Many of you said that you enjoy the freedom of your hair. Also, you like the uniqueness of your hair and just being you. I can't wait to share more with you on this. I'll have to share with you about how I was a "perm head" addict. No, really. And, question 4 asked for comments and suggestions. Thanks everyone for your great replies. Yes, I love to encourage people, but your responses have been a great encouragement for me! I appreciate you for that. I'll also include answers to the questions that people ask me: - Through Facebook - When they stop me in person -Through email I answer all questions, in whatever form they come to me. I'm going to share them on this site so that others who may have the same questions can benefit. For the shy people (smile), don't worry, I'll just be posting the questions and my answers, not any of your personal information. Stay tuned for the answers to specific questions, more hair care info, and homemade recipes for your hair and body! Remember to sign up for the newsletter to receive "special" things, and to be the first to know about stuff (like upcoming giveaways and contests) Once again everybody, thanks. Love you Inspired Locs family, Susan |
