Poetry Spot
I am so pleased to share with you these
beautiful poems from two ladies who are very creative!!! They write of
things that many of us can relate to. We hope to hear more from these
ladies in the future! Thank you both!
Our first poem, entitled "Murphy's Law" is written by
Nikki:
Murphy's Law
I have attempted writing to
you on more than one occasion
I could not.
It seems a power greater than myself prompted me to be
still.
Silence speaks volumes
sometimes
And so, I waited. Waited until there was clarity in my
spirit.
Even as I write this letter to you, healing is taking place
within me.
I suppose you too have been bruised by your own self
infliction.
I thought you knew by now that
you can not pour new wine into old wine skins.
There is no one to blame.
I
chuckle at your tribute of love to me. Your idea of
placing a stamp upside (from within) is not even
your own
yet you wear it as though it can heal the wounds
of
affliction that could have should have been
avoided time
after time (after time).
Funny
(isn't it?) how our sons are raised to master the art
of receiving love, yet (giving love) reciprocity
comes hard
and sometimes not at all so they (you/them/he/him)
conjure
up codes/gadgets and lofty ideas about themselves
to take
the place of what really
matters(truth/honesty/integrity).
"It didn't work out because you didn't love me
enuf" they
(you/them/he/him) say. Of course, what else could the
matter be?
And
so I am here, suspended in this place. Willing to
forgive knowing full well that my freedom depends
on it.
To figure out the why and howcome of it all would
be a
futile exercise.
This
i do know: His thoughts are not our thoughts
neither are His ways.
in our joy there is sorrow
and in our pain there is growth.

Now, a song of
poetry entitled "When My Eyes First Saw You..." written by Nia:
When My Eyes First Saw You......
I said to myself, "NO WAY"! That
quick I judged you as being a playa', a
dog, and a thug all wrapped up into one...
And there was "NO WAY" I could even begin to think of dreamn' of gettn' with
that, from him I must run...
Far away I must remain, 'cuz the slightest little inch could put me in a
clinch...
Oh! But the more I see him, the more I SEE, that maybe, just maybe, we can
be!...
Now that I'm feeln' him, this nigga scared to death...
He thinks, "This sh*t must be too good to be true"...
So how do I get him to calm down, just take two breaths?...
How do I prove my feelings for him, how do I, I haven't got a clue...
Each day of the months that have passed over just about three years...
I've fallen madly in love with a man, for I feel the energy in my tears...
I feel the inner depths, that it cuts like a knife...
Only in my fairytale mind, that one day I long to be his wife...
But patience I must have, it can be no other way...
For this man that I love feels the exact same way...
We've been through ups & downs and this too will never end...
And this we know, so we mustn't bend...
We both know that more of these roads lye ahead...
So we've made it a point to stick to what we once said...
Have to stay strong and not let the world break us down...
Can't allow bullsh*t to come between he or me, so we'll catch you on the
rebound...
So this I have concluded, that it's him for me and me for him...
And this day to night from here on forward - we will WIN!
When I First Saw You, Yes I was wrong...
But now I know, this is my song...

Here is a page from my painting notebook. This floral
arrangement is painted using the easiest painting technique I have ever done -
Onestroke painting. Onestroke is a form of decorative painting where you
can blend, shade and highlight in One Stroke. Anyone can paint using this

Black Facts
Prince Hall **
Born in the British West Indies, Prince Hall migrated to Boston during his
youth and rose to become one of the Black community's most influential members.
At the outbreak of the American Revolution, Hall enlisted in the Medford
militia and served in the armed forces. On this day in 1787, Hall received a
charter from the Grand Lodge of England and organized what is now the oldest
Black fraternal organization in America, African Lodge Number 459 of the
Freemasonry, by obtaining a charter from England. His beliefs in education and
support of his fellowman are still present in chapters of his organization
today. As one of America's first abolitionists, Hall was a primary force in a
petition sent to the Massachusetts House of Representatives to end slavery. His
argument used all the principles for
Prince Hall
which the settlers of America broke away from England. He also petitioned
against the kidnapping and sale of free Blacks into slavery. At the time of his
death, Hall not only had full voting rights, but was also a property owner.
Because of his many contributions, many Masonic lodges observe September 7 as
Prince Hall Day.
